My room has become an oven these days as it is on the top most floor and courtesy Delhi heat. There is a terrace garden next to my room but surprisingly it hasn’t helped in cooling my room in anyway. Cooler too, is of no use in fact it makes my room even more humid. It looks as if all the things that were supposed to beat the heat has conspired against me and joined hands with the enemy making my stay over here unbearable.
It was horrible today though it was not one of the worst days. I don’t know whether it was humidity or something else which made me feel so weak and exhausted. Even after pouring gallons of water down my throat i was thirsty. Drinking bottles after bottles of icy water gave me a strange headache. Worse enough there was a power cut. Thankfully it returned after an hour but that one hour power break was enough to bathe me in sweat. By then it was time for me to leave for work reluctantly I stepped out of the house. Well this wasn’t the end of torture. Outside the sun was in its full glory and ready to bake anybody who dared to stand under its blazing pinion without an umbrella. The twenty minute wait to get an auto-rickshaw was torturous and agonizing as I felt I was getting roasted live. As i stood on the roadside getting charred I felt like the chicken in tandoor. Well the only difference was that the chicken are dead, naked and stood/hung upside down which i wasn't so i felt every bit of the sun burning my skin. The irritating autowallas made me feel worse as they were on the lookout to fleece someone. Luckily after a long wait one agreed to go by the meter. On the way to work I wondered how Kawarias dared to walk barefoot on tar roads and how people drove in Delhi especially the ones on bike in the heat and still braved the draconian Delhi traffic. What it must be like where there is power-cut for more than ten hours. Probably people adjust and adapt themselves to such adverse situations.
Well then instead of complaining I should practice sleeping in an oven so that Delhi heat would seem like Shimla breeze to me.
Well well…I do sleep in an oven, don’t I. Just waiting for the day when Delhi heat would seem like Shimla breeze…….a far-fetched imagination or is it possible?

I have heard of Delhi summers. Faced it once. Poor you!
I guess everyone needs the rain badly..Even we do here in our city ! Most water sources have dried up in this part of the country. It is getting more difficult day by day without proper water supplies :(
@ Pawan
Ur Welcome friend. Hope u enjoy reading the posts.
@ Mou
Hope it rains soon in your city too. you are in which city? Hope the problem of water scarcity is addressed soon. Its difficult to survive without water.
Oh my symapathy with all of you in Delhi..Pune is amazing these days!!
@ Sweet Nothings,
Ya, Pune has an awesome weather n i loved it when i was there. I envy you...lolzz
Ironical that I should read this post on a day when
1. The sun has been the centre of all news.
2. It is POURING cats and dogs outside. I am in Mumbai near Worli Sea Face just now.
So Shas, you were in Pune? When? What were you doing there? I am a Delhi-born, now based in Pune, but work largely from Mumbai. Call it split personality???
@ Pushkaraj,
Wow, i hav another Pune connection...welcome to my blog.
