Today as the sun gathers its last rays in the far west to give its final bow to the day,
Cities and towns drown with sounds of crackers and celebration.
Kids wait in anticipation for their fathers to return,
Old and tired eyes watch the paths that might lead their sons and daughters back home from far off lands.
As the night grows silhouettes of houses brighten,
Little diyas charm the corners of the house,
Sky illuminates with millions of crackers bursting into colourful twinkling stars,
Smoke and smell of cracker fills the air.
Hugs, sweets and smiles greets the air
As relatives, friends and foes,
Gather and fight with a deck of cards.
Wasted with bhang,
Win and loss ceases to matter.
At the end of the brightest night,
Nothing remains,
Except heaps of ash, half burnt candles, blackened diyas, half-eaten boxes of sweets,
Hearts filled with love and blessings, and
Memories of the day well-spent with family, friends and foes.
Wish you all a Happy and prosperous Diwali !!
May this Diwali add cheer, lots of love and blessings to you life.

I hope you had good Diwali :) Nice picture and nice post overall :)
I always admire the way you view life...it turns an ordinary experience into an unforgettable event...
Very rich and exceptionally brilliant piece of expression..
I wish you keep the flame burning inside so long life allows...and let ashes play with autumn breeze in mirth of having laid all it could to add a few shines...
Take care,
Let there be light .. Let the diyas keep 'high-lighting' you always :)
@ A, Saibal Barman & Disgruntled Genius,
Thanks to all and wish you all the same.
