Urgent Help Required !!

Everybody feels happy each time they see a new person following their blog. But, this time I did not coz to my utter dismay and horror, I discovered that one of my recent followers is the owner/writer of an adult blog and has quite an appalling (can be appealing for some) profile picture. On seeing the profile icon I was a bit shocked and blinked my eyes in disbelief because I wondered who would be so bold to have such a profile picture and rushed to block the person. I was wondering as to how and what appealed the person to follow my blog. Probably the number of followers or the traffic must have motivated the person. There is nothing wrong in being an adult content/blog writer but I certainly do not want such writers to be on my followers list. So, please maintain the sanctity of my blog space and stay away from it. Such people are welcome to read my blog rather than publish or promote their blog on my space.
I REQUEST that follower to please stop following my blog.

Help!!

Please somebody tell me how to block unwanted followers. I tried to block the person but the block button does not seem to work. I checked Google and realized that I was not the only person who is unable to block unwanted followers. All geeks and computer experts please reply, soon.

Could nt help chuckling...

I have no clue on the blocking part

FYI

Just FYI, even if you block them anyone can still follow your blog in a reader or other service, could Follow your blog and chose not to be shown publically, etc. Blocking a Follower does nothing more than stop them being displayed as a public Follower on your blog.

another option would be importing the blog to WP.

Hi,

There is no rule as of now to stop this kind of following google being in the domain and for them blocking these thing is a tricky thing but we can click "report abuse" on the blogger's page to ask the Google Monitoring service to make a note of it so all that need to be done ask your friend to mark a report abuse which is located at the top left side of the blogger.
So that if the reporting is maximized then some action can be expected from google to either de-activate the account of the blogger as a whole.

Rest there are lots of other option on forums of google where you can put your concern.

For me its never a problem as ...my blog doesn't need followers and only genuine ppl followed and it only attact readers direct from google meta data search ..
:).

So report abuse just use your followers to the greatest effect.
Hope your concern get resolved soon..

umm maybe you should just ignore it, maybe the sanctity of your blog transforms that person too?

I got comments once or twice like that. I simply ignore and these people disappear.

If you block a particular user, they will come as Anonymous.

No point of wasting your time. Just ignore.

Blogger doesn't have that option. Word Press does I guess. The paid one. Let it be and ignore it...

The block user option in blogger does work. I donno why it dint work for you! Try it again...

If it fails, the the next option is to remove the followers gadget from the blog.

In the followers list,

Options > Manage members

In the list of followers, click on that particular member, it would lead to his profile. Select 'Block Member'.

Problem solved!

Oh and by mentioning such an incident, you just provided this person with free advertisement. I noticed only after you said it.
:P

Maybe, this person's plan worked.

Now thats a really sad of finding out how great your blog is :)

Anyways the block user should work, since it does not, email google help, they are quite prompt. Be specific of the issues you have faced and the id you wish to block.

1. Sorry, I chuckled.
2. I visited his/her blog. Free publicity for the darling. It was disappointing. Sorry, again.

3. 'Block this user' has worked for me in the past. Reporting abuse might be an option.

@ Bikramjit,
Thanks! Oopss..mark those messages as spam.
Yippiee...I have been finally able to block the person after several attempts.

Procedure:
Go to the dashboard, click on the followers button and then again click on the icon of the follower whom you want to block. It will show you options such as add as friend, block the person...then choose the block option.

@ Sankoobaba,
Thanks! It wasn't working earlier but its working now.

@ Jon,
Keep chuckling :P

@ Bluemist,
Thanks! But shifting to WP will be too much of a trouble. I had tried WP earlier but I find blogger more user-friendly though some may disagree with me.

@ Blasphemous Aesthete,
Hi...hi...I wonder if that would happen, this blog is no Ganges :P
Ya, i know by writing about that follower I have given undue space to him but I have no regrets about it coz if it can highlight the problem and lead us to some solution then why not.

@ Vivek,
Thanks!

@ A,
Thanks! Ya, at times ignoring them is better.

I hope you got rid of the problem. I check anyone who leaves a comment even before I click the publish button. That is why I am here. Thanks for visiting. Interesting blog here. And you would not mind the additional follower ( me!)
